Recasting rehashed ideas, finding original ways to elicit emotion and grabbing readers’ attention to get a reaction are what she does best.
In another life, Arianne studied political communication and thought about becoming a journalist. Inspired by the concept of “buen vivir” and other new social movements, she followed her passion for international solidarity to India, and then to Senegal, for the World Social Forum. To what does she owe her change in career plans? Maybe in part to her meeting with the Dalai Lama during an internship with Canada World Youth. Today you can find her anywhere where people are mobilizing and shouting, whether it’s for the sheer fun of a good party or a demonstration to defend human rights.
Why Atypic?
“Because of the ideas that shake things up and change the world. Since we have to compete with the big names for people’s attention, we have no choice but to surprise them. Sometimes that involves an exhilarating amount of risk. We’re like little kids plotting a prank, but in the final analysis, it’s a law we want to change, a person we want to set free, or an animal we want to rescue.”
