This Privacy Policy (our “Policy”) describes how we treat your personal information, including the purposes for which we collect it. It also contains important information about your rights regarding your personal information and how you can exercise them.

What is the scope of this policy?
This policy applies to all personal information collected, used, or disclosed whether as part of our professional services, or while browsing our website.
However, this policy does not apply to services offered by third parties, even if they are accessible through our website, social networks in particular. We suggest that you review the personal information practices of these third parties to determine whether you wish to use them.
This policy does not apply to the processing of personal information of our employees. A separate policy exists in this regard.
We collect personal information through the professional services provided to our clients (for example, direct mail, telemarketing, or other relationship marketing operations), in which case these clients are responsible for the instructions they provide to us. We suggest that you consult the respective privacy policies of our clients to better understand how they treat your personal information.
What is personal information?
Personal information is any information relating directly or indirectly to a specific individual.
This information may include, but is not limited to, your name, mailing address, location data, telephone number, email address, IP address, email identifiers, age, or one or more specific details that are specific to your physical, psychological, economic, cultural, or social identity. Personal information also includes information collected through cookies and other tracking technologies, such as pixels or mobile device advertising identifiers. Cookies allow our website to collect and remember certain information about you, such as your preferences, but they also allow us to do targeted marketing based on your areas of interest. Why do we collect personal information?
We collect personal information as part of our professional services, in order to administer our website, to offer a newsletter and to organize certain events, as specified in the table below. Thus, we obtain personal information through our clients or directly from you. When you consent to the processing of your personal information, you can withdraw this consent at any time, by contacting our person in charge of the protection of personal information by email at vieprivee@atypic.ca. For digital communications, you can withdraw this consent by using the unsubscribe function present in the communications.
Also, as part of our digital advertising activities, we use marketing cookies that track your activities to serve you personalized digital advertisements according to your tastes or, in other words, to carry out targeting activities. With whom do we communicate your personal information?
We share your personal information with our service providers, or otherwise, as part of our professional services, as instructed by our clients. Contracts with our service providers indicate how they must treat your personal information. Here are the categories of third parties with whom we share your personal information:
- Information technology service providers. In order to host our website and offer our online services, we use providers like WordPress, Cloudways, Cloudflare, and Webflow;
- Communication service providers. We use service providers to communicate with you, in particular regarding events that we organize, or our newsletter. For example, we use Mailchimp to administer and send our newsletters;
- Marketing partners. We use cookies in the context of digital advertising. These cookies are operated by marketing partners, in particular, Facebook and YouTube;
- Telemarketing partners for our clients;
- Partners for the production of direct mail for our clients.
As part of our professional services, our clients determine how necessary personal information is processed. Thus, we may share your personal information with other third parties in the context of these professional services, according to the instructions of our clients. Please refer to their respective privacy policies for more information.
We may be required to share your personal information with authorities if compelled to do so to comply with applicable laws, or during their administration. This includes a court order compelling us to disclose personal information. Where reasonably possible and legally permitted to do so, we will notify you of such communication.
At Atypic, access to your personal information is only granted to employees who need it in the performance of their duties. Our employees and contractors must sign a confidentiality agreement before having access to personal information.
Where is your personal information stored?
Atypic strives to host the data in Canada and, when possible, in Quebec. However, with the globalization of trade and the increasing use of new technologies, particularly those related to the development of cloud-based solutions, data is likely to be transferred or transmitted to recipients located outside of Canada. For example, we use Mailchimp to administer and send our newsletter. For telemarketing activities, we use Searchbug to validate the nature of certain telephone numbers. These providers are located in the United States.
As part of our website hosting services, your personal information is hosted in either of the jurisdictions listed in the table below, as applicable.

Although we have contracts with these entities, foreign laws may provide different levels of protection for your personal information when hosted in another jurisdiction.
How do we protect your personal information?
The personal information we collect is stored in secure environments. Atypic strives to adopt reasonable physical, administrative, and organizational measures to protect personal information, including:
- Grant access to personal information as needed;
- Grant a minimum threshold of computer privileges according to the function of our employees;
- Establish a confidentiality agreement with our employees;
- Provide our employees with training in the protection of personal information;
- Ensure the protection of printed personal information by a lock;
- Use technical and operational security measures such as:
- Network monitoring,
- Establishment of a backup protocol,
- Use of firewalls and antivirus,
- A strong password policy and the use of secure software solutions for access management and sharing,
- Multi-factor authentication to connect to cloud platforms,
- Use of the SSL protocol,
- Encryption of several storage spaces,
- Periodic review of privacy safeguards.
How long do we keep your personal information?
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary for the purpose of the collection, or longer if required by law. When personal information is processed on behalf of a client, the client generally determines the retention period.
What are your rights regarding your personal information?
Depending on the circumstances, you may be granted various rights with respect to your personal information, including the right to modify it, to have access to it or to withdraw your consent. How can you exercise your rights?
You can exercise your rights at any time by contacting our Privacy Officer or by using the technical features made available to you, where applicable.

We may request additional personal information to validate your identity. If we cannot accept your request, we will inform you of the reason for refusal. If you disagree with our decision, you can contact our Privacy Officer again, and we will consider your request again. Otherwise, you can exercise your rights with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec (CAI), or the responsible authority in your jurisdiction if you are outside Quebec.
Can this policy be changed?
Yes, we may update this policy as needed, including to reflect changes in our processing of personal information. In the event of a substantial change, we will try to notify you whenever possible, through our newsletter. You can view the last policy update date at the bottom of this page.
